Little Theatre proudly presents our 98th Season

LTWB 98th Season

KING LEAR (Jan 24-Feb2)

Shakespeare’s oldest story, of an ancient King who invites chaos by dividing his kingdom, is also perhaps his most modern: a tale of human nature run amok that rings true in the context of current history. We set King Lear in the era of Woodstock, the dawn of the cultural division affecting us today. A theatrical feast, featuring live music, and a very new vision of a true classic.

THE WEDDING SINGER (Mar 13-22)

The Broadway version of the touching 1998 hit movie, nominated for five Tony awards, takes everything in the fan-favorite film just a step or two farther. True love, big dreams, and the sounds of the 1980’s are well-represented in fun, heartwarming musical theatre that has toured the world.

LOST IN YONKERS (May 1-10)

When Neil Simon passed away in 2018, he left an unmatched legacy: 30 world-famous plays. Little Theatre has staged many. Lost in Yonkers, winner of the 1991 Pulitzer Prize, is among his finest dramatic comedies. The poignant wartime story features the rich characters and brilliant writing we came to expect from Simon, the modern master of the play.

SHREK (June 19-28)

It’s hard to believe nearly twenty years have passed since the big green ogre, his sidekick Donkey, and dear Fiona stole our hearts on the silver screen. Fortunately, all the beloved characters have been brought to life onstage, along with music as magic as they are. Little Theatre takes to the swamp with Shrek. (A great show for kids—and aren’t we all kids at heart?)

SHREK JR. (July 24-26)

After the grown-ups flee the swamp, our kids emerge—and we are always astonished at what they achieve onstage! Our Young Actor’s workshop began in 1986, and boasts many alumni who act, direct, and teach.  Little Theatre offers the workshop at no cost to families, and it grows every year. Join us!

EVENING OF ONE-ACTS (Aug 14-16)

Our Evening of OneAct Plays ‘19 premiered new work by a local playwright. What will 2020 bring? We have no idea—and that’s fantastic. We’ll take submissions from writers and directors this winter, and bring the best to our stage in August. They could be old or new. Hey–they could be yours!

CAROUSEL (Sept 11-20)

Last produced by Little Theatre in 1966, Carousel is a return to our roots in the Golden Age of Broadway musicals. The masterpiece by the immortal Rogers and Hammerstein was Richard Rogers’ personal favorite and Time magazine’s “best musical of the 20th century.” The all-American story is literally timeless, and the beloved songs unforgettable.

THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW (Oct 29-31)

Will it be different from last year? Oh, yes, darlings—it’s ALWAYS different. Little Theatre’s annual tradition adds to its reputation as the best Hallowe’en party in town: live, onstage, with requisite fishnets, corsets, chainsaws, and prop bags. We shiver with antici….pation!

A SPECIAL CHRISTMAS PRODUCTION (Dec 11-20)

We wish we could tell you the title of 2020’s Christmas show, but some things must remain a secret, even in the theatre world. Rest assured that the fifth in Little Theatre’s new tradition of Christmas season productions will be a special addition to your family’s holiday celebration. Watch social media and local media for the complete story as it develops!
